  • Whiplash from a car accident. Critical steps in settling your case.

Soft tissue injuries like whiplash from car accidents are very controversial. From a defendant’s point of view, a lot of car insurance companies in San Diego like to suggest whiplash injuries are irrelevant and often exaggerated by plaintiffs, and in some instances that may be correct. However, in many instances and with many clients we have seen, 7-8 years after the accident it is possible that the victim is still having symptoms.  In many whiplash cases you will find over an acute period the symptoms seem to abate, they come to an end and you think it’s better, but a few months later the symptoms get worse again. So it’s very important for your own health to consult a doctor that will look at the whiplash injury; get an MRI scan, and get some sort of prognosis of what you can expect in the future. Often on the other hand many people have a whiplash injury and it resolves itself, but be very careful thinking a whiplash will resolve itself after 2-3 months. Go to a doctor, get proper treatment, get proper expert advice in conjunction with your attorney before you settle any whiplash case to ensure that you don’t suffer effects after you settle the case.
