  • How soon after a car accident should I see a doctor?

If you’ve been involved in a car accident you should see a doctor as soon as possible after the accident. Obviously if your injuries are severe you need to make sure you get to an emergency room. In many instances, especially when it comes to soft tissue injuries, you may find you’re not symptomatic immediately after the car accident. In fact you may only become symptomatic 2 or 3 days after the accident. Go and see a doctor as soon as you become symptomatic, dealing with your injury as soon as possible after the accident, and getting rehabilitative care certainly will assist in your health. From a personal injury point of view, it is also best to see a doctor as soon as possible after the accident if you are having symptoms. Many times insurance companies, who are in essence the defendants in these cases, will argue that there’s no nexus (connection) between the injury and the accident if there is a long period of time between injury and the accident and seeing the doctor, so see a doctor as soon as possible after the car accident.
